THE TRAIN (Costa Verde Express)
In 1983, the first Transcantabrico train was created. Today, it is considered the oldest tourist train in Spain: the Transcantabrico. However, years later, two luxury trains were created: El Transcantabrico great luxury and the Transcantabrico Clásico. Recently, El Transcantabrico Clásico has been transformed into the Costa Verde Express, emulating the classic trains of the golden age of railroads, but with modern comforts and technology. Additionally, its carefully remodeled and themed lounge cars and rooms display their majesty along the winding metric gauge track.
A cozy atmosphere and a professional crew with highly personalized service are the hallmarks of the Costa Verde Express, which also offers the opportunity to explore the Green Spain: Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, and Galicia; famous for their landscapes, culture, and cuisine.
The Lounge Cars of “Costa Verde Express”
The lounge cars of the Costa Verde Express are designed for enjoyment; therefore, they will include a dining car and a leisure lounge car to partake in various activities, a relaxation lounge car to admire the scenery, and a bar lounge car for a drink… True gems of railway heritage.
The dining lounge cars provide the perfect setting for à la carte breakfasts, as well as lunches or dinners served on the train, offering a unique gastronomic experience on board, with a clear influence from the renowned cuisine of northern Spain combined with some international culinary trends.
In the lounge cars, buffet breakfasts and the select cuisine prepared by the chef of the Costa Verde Express are served daily for those dinners or lunches that take place on board.
Additionally, bar service is available at any time for enjoying a drink, with or without alcohol, soft drinks, a coffee, or various teas, either in the designated lounge cars or in the suite.
In the late afternoon or after dinner, various leisure activities are offered in the corresponding lounge car. Here, parties, live music, cultural and gastronomic activities, etc., take place.
The recommended attire during the day is comfortable clothing and footwear, especially during planned excursions. At night, more formal attire is recommended, although no specific dress code is required.
Finally, the entire train, including rooms, lounges, and restaurants, is interconnected internally, allowing free movement of passengers.
The bar car remains open with extended hours, from early morning until late at night, and there is a 24-hour on-call passenger service available.
