History of the Costa Verde Express
Just over three decades ago, what is now the oldest tourist train in Spain was born: El Transcantábrico. It later became two luxury trains: El Transcantábrico Gran Lujo and El Transcantábrico Clásico. In 2020, as an exponent of elegance and comfort from its origins, El Transcantábrico Clásico became the Costa Verde Express and in 2022 it began its first routes through the north of Spain, known as Green Spain. The Costa Verde Express takes the traveler back to the golden age of great railway journeys, without foregoing all the comforts and attentions of the 21st century. Its carefully remodeled and decorated lounge cars unfold all their majesty on the winding metric gauge.
An evocative and pleasant atmosphere, a top-tier crew, and the vast culture and gastronomy offered by the north of Spain, known as the Spanish Green Coast: Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, and Galicia are the foundation that makes each journey on El Costa Verde Express a true pleasure for the senses.
