The Costa Verde Express train, in its route, crosses spectacular natural landscapes of Green Spain

The Costa Verde Express train, formerly El Transcantábrico Clásico, takes a route through Northern Spain, known as Green Spain. Along its journey, we can admire spectacular natural landscapes, which we detail below, but also World Heritage sites, major cities, and tourist attractions, charming towns… that make up the Costa Verde Express Route, a thrilling journey that the Costa Verde Express offers with itineraries of 6 and 4 days.
Picos de Europa National Park

This is an impressive natural reserve in the regions of Asturias, Cantabria, and Castilla y León. Covering more than 67,000 hectares, the park offers a wide variety of landscapes, from stunning mountains to deep gorges and crystal-clear rivers.

The park is a popular tourist destination for nature lovers and hikers. There is a plethora of trails to walk and enjoy the stunning views of the Picos de Europa. Additionally, the park is home to a variety of animal species, such as the brown bear, the Iberian wolf, and the golden eagle, making it an ideal destination for wildlife watching.

Lake Enol

This is a beautiful mountain lake located in the Picos de Europa National Park in Asturias, Spain. It is one of the three glacial lakes that make up the well-known “Lagos de Covadonga” and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asturias.

Lake Enol is surrounded by stunning mountains, making it an ideal place for hiking and enjoying the panoramic views of the park. There are several hiking trails starting from the lake, which can be explored on foot or by mountain bike. In addition, the lake offers the possibility of engaging in water activities such as boat rides and canoeing.

Beach of the Cathedrals

Also known as Praia das Catedrais, this is an impressive beach located on the north coast of Galicia, Spain. It is famous for its stunning rock formations that resemble arches and natural cathedrals, hence its name.

The Beach of the Cathedrals is a very popular tourist destination in Spain. During low tide, it is possible to walk beneath the rock formations and enjoy the breathtaking views. The beach has fine sand and stretches for nearly 2 kilometers.

Access is limited to mitigate the impact of tourism in the area. In addition to enjoying the beach, visitors can engage in activities such as hiking and cycling on the trails surrounding the coastal area.
